    Description

The elecampane is a common plant that grows in many regions of the world, from South-Europe to Asia. Other names of the plant is inula, hones, horse-heal. The root is the most useful part of elecampane. The inula was one of the most important herbs for the ancient Greeks and Romans. It was thought as a remedy for different diseases such as dropsy, digestive disorders and sciatica. The elecampane is probably identical with the cheironion, one of the most popular herbs of Chiron. In modern herbal medicine the elecampane is mainly used for treating respiratory disorders and as a tonic of digestion. In the first case, it is used in bronchitis, asthma and persistent cough.
