    Description

The uva ursi is cultivated in cold climates, in Europe, in Asia and North America. Its fruits are edible but have bad taste. In herbal medicine, the leaves are used only. American Indians used the herb from the 2nd century to deal with bladder infections, kidney stones and cystitis and its fruits for the treatment of obesity. The first mention of uva ursi as a medicinal herb in Europe refers to the 12th century. The leaves have a positive effect in the treatment of cystitis.
