    Peppermint is an aromatic herbaceous plant of the family Labiatae of temperate regions. It's a medicinal plant and is used in cooking as a condiment and as a decoction or essential oil. The essential oil is suitable for inferior products. The greek plant life includes several peppermint species. The peppermint name comes from the latin mentha, which in turn is derived from the ancient mint. It has been used since ancient times to nowadays as aromatic in cooking, winery and in pharmacy. The Ancient Greeks rubbed the table with peppermint before meal. Also, they flavored the water bath. From the 6th century toothpastes with mint had been made. Mice seem to avoid the smell, so it is used for remove them. In ancient Greece, Hippocrates and Galen used the peppermint against indigestion, nerve disorders, dizziness, insomnia, coughs, colds, sore throats and as antispasmodic.
